AS positive results go, this was probably the second most important one Rangers enjoyed on the final day of the 2011/12 SPL season.

Nevertheless, the manner of this victory will give away fans who were here to see it as much encouragement as news Charles Green’s consortium is due to take control of the club.

Rangers Deal Done

Former Sheffield United chief executive Charles Green is set to be announced as preferred bidder by Rangers administrators.

Duff and Phelps have confirmed they view Green’s bid as the highest of four potential offers.

Rangers 5 Dundee Utd 0 (SPL) 2nd May 2012

SONE ALUKO inspired Rangers to a stunning 5-0 victory over Dundee United, a result which ended the visitor’s hopes of finishing third in the SPL.

The Nigerian scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes of this one-sided contest after Steven Whittaker had started the rout with a great left-foot finish.

Celtic 3 Rangers 0 (SPL) 29th April 2012

RANGERS’ lack of a cutting edge cost them dearly as they were ultimately well beaten by Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the 2011/12 campaign.

The Light Blues played some decent football in the first period and Lee McCulloch, Steven Whittaker, Rhys McCabe and Andrew Little all had reasonable chances to net.

Sone Aluko scored from a free kick to open the scoring for Rangers

RANGERS made it four wins on the bounce with an impressive 3-0 away victory over Paulo Sergio’s Hearts at Tynecastle.

First half goals from Sone Aluko and Andy Little put Ally McCoist’s men in a commanding position and after Craig Beattie had missed a penalty in the second period it was Little who added icing to the cake with a third on 87 minutes.

VICTORY in the penultimate Old Firm match of the season saw ten-man Rangers deny nine-man Celtic the chance to win the title at Ibrox.

Celtic supporters were in party mood ahead of kick off as they eyed the opportunity to clinch the league at their rivals’ home for the first time in 45 years.

Rangers 1 Hearts 2 (SPL) 3rd March 2012

AFTER another turbulent week Rangers produced a performance full of passion but it was Hearts that claimed all three points with a gritty second-half fight back.

Skipper Steven Davis opened the scoring for the light blue but the Jambos, who were very poor in the first half, were a different side in the second.

Lee McCulloch scores for Rangers

LEE MCCULLOCH put in an impressive attacking display as Rangers returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Dunfermline at East End Park.

The 33-year-old scored his side’s second goal on 39 minutes after his strike partner David Healy had levelled Andy Kirk’s shock opener.

Dundee Utd deserved there win over Rangers in this Scottish Cup match

A DIFFICULT week for Ally McCoist ended in sheer misery as Rangers were dumped out of the Scottish Cup by Dundee United for the second time in three years.

The Light Blues lost two bad goals in the first half and they never really looked like from recovering from that deficit.
