UEFA CUP Finalists 2007/08

Rangers are through to the final of the UEFA Cup after beating the italian team Fiorentina on penalties 4-2 after both legs finished 0-0. Rangers will now meet former manager Dick Advocaats team Zenit St Petersburg on the 14th May, 2008 at the City of Manchester stadium.

Rangers 1 Celtic 0

Kevin Thomson's first goal for Rangers since signing from Hibernian 14 months ago made the difference against Celtic at Ibrox as the home side took a giant step towards the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.

There was only a minute of the first half remaining when thes2million midfielder played a one-two with Jean-Claude Darcheville before firing past Hoops goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

The second half was frantic and evenly matched, with both sides having chances to score.

In the 76th minute Thomson was taken off on a stretcher after falling to the floor on the edge of the Celtic box, although there had seemed little contact when the Rangers player had skipped past Samaras and the goalscorer looked to have dived.

Charlie Adam came on for Thomson, seconds before McDonald replaced Vennegoor of Hesselink.

Adam should have made it 2-0 in the final minute when he was clean through on goal but his shot was brilliantly blocked by Boruc.

The victory means that Rangers move six points ahead of Celtic in the SPL table, with a game in hand.

C.I.S Cup Winners 2008

Rangers won the CIS Cup on Sunday beating Dundee Utd 3-2 on penalities after the game ended 2-2 with Kris Boyd Netting a double, About time we started getting trophies back to Ibrox and long may it continue.
